JERRYMy name is Jerry and I'm just an old white guy with no tribal affiliations. A number of years ago I heard a Native American Indian playing a flute and my skids were greased. I took my first class in the summer of 2003 from a Native American and have continued to learn as I could and from anyone who would teach me. I'm also a glass artist specializing in fused glass pieces. My wife, Ann, and I run a full service glass shop where we display our finished glass work as well as the flutes and Ann's gourds. We are always looking for new and exciting ways to craft and decorate our creations and will continue to experiment with new material and methods.
The name "White Elk" has special meaning for me because he, White Elk, is my Spirit Guide and has been with me for the better part of 30 years. In 2002 he guided me down the path of Shaman practices, which I follow still. My flutes are part of that process in their ability to "tune out" the rest of the world and leave me more focused for whatever Journey I might be about to begin. Flute and drum music are both a part of the process, so every flute I make is made with all that in mind. Guess that's another dimension that's become quite important to me.
ANNAnn has been creating art in various medium for over 50 years. Always interested in a new skill, she has worked in textiles, oils, clay, glass and now gourd crafting. "I can't imagine NOT creating," says Ann. "I enjoy the challenge each piece brings, along with the "What-if" possibilities in how I can make the next one different.
