Bass A
Here is a bass "A" for everyone. Usually a flute this deep has such a long stretch to the lower finger holes that not many people can play it. Well, this one is special. I use a process whereby the sound chamber may be shortened without loosing the low pitch. That allows the finger holes to be further up the flute and easier to reach. In addition, I've been able to space the finger holes pretty equally and curved their placement making this an easy bass "A" that just about anyone can play. If you've wanted a really deep bass "A" in your collection, but the size made you shy away, here is your flute. In addition to it's ease of playing, the sound quality in this one is stunning. LOUD as a fog horn or soft as a prayer, this flute is versatile, beautiful to look at and beautiful sounding.

A note on the totem; This totem reminds me of "Pulpit Rock" at Zion National Park. I attended the flute festival at Zion in June of 2007 and made this flute after I came home in memory of that festival. If you've never attended, there are no words to describe what it was like. If you were there, however, you may share the intensity of memories I have. This flute takes me back there.

Fuchsia
This flute started out as a Cedar fence post! Now, it's a lovely E with wood burned and painted Fuchsia branches. The design is one of Ann's originals which was wood burned to accent the borders and then painted. After the paint was dry, I applied two coats of a clear seal and then waxed it. The totem is my standard design and is made from the same fence post and then tied with multi-colored leather ties. I've curved the finger holes which makes this an easy flute to play. The curve allows a more comfortable position for your wrists.

Green Man Duet Drone
If you ever wanted to have a duet partner and there weren't any around, this is your flute. Two chambers with three holes in the front and a thumb hole in the back give you a full range. The short chamber is carefully tuned to the long chamber hole three so that they can be played in lovely harmony. Sometimes I forget this is a duet flute and just play it like a regular flute and let the harmony take care of itself; a truly magical experience. Made from European Cherry and pitched to Eb, this is a fun flute to play and a lovely addition to your collection.

Morning Glory Drone
A wonderful piece of Purple Heart with a Walnut totem is the material for this "Standard" drone. Pitched to "F" it is a lovely drone to play with either chamber easily isolated or in harmony. Decorated with Wood Burned Morning Glories with painted accents, this flute begs to be touched. And because it's made from Purple Heart, you can be sure it's tone is golden.

Maple Drone
Ever see a piece of Maple with grain like this? It's Big Leaf Maple that's been quartersawn to show off the grain, and show it off it does. This is spectacular wood. I set it off with Walnut and Ebony end pieces and a Walnut totem. Also, there's a "thumb hole" in the drone chamber comfortably placed where the thumb of your lower, right hand can cover it. There's a variety of pitches I could have chosen for that thumb hole but the one I like is the "missing" note. That's the one between the bottom two holes. I find that note will go with the upper three holes quite nicely as a drone pitch. So now you have two choices. Pitched to F#, this one plays like a dream. Of course, the mouthpiece is set up such that you can play either chamber individually or both together.

Curly Redwood Drone
Here's a lovely piece of wood crafted into a "Duet Drone" configuration. This style uses a short chamber that's tuned to hole three in the long chamber. That produces all the pitches you'd expect in a full length flute so this one can be played that way and allow the harmony from the drone chamber to take care of itself. Except that you have options as to what that drone frequency will be. If, for example, you are playing melody in the long chamber, you have three notes you might use as your drone pitch, plus a thumb hole. The thumb hole picks up a full step higher than hole six open so the flute has a nice range to it. But it's strength is it's ability to play in harmony. Opening various holes in combination between the chambers produces harmony in thirds and fifths! The possibilities are huge. You no longer have to go find another person to be your duet partner. Now, you can "Duet" yourself! Pitched to F# and made from a piece of Old Growth Curly Redwood with a Cedar totem, this Duet Drone is lovely to look at and a pure joy to play.

Walnut Eb
Here's one for the all you Walnut Junkies! I cut this out of the heart wood to maintain a consistent color across the entire flute. The totem comes from the same piece so it has the same color tone as the rest of the flute. It's tuned to Eb with curved finger holes. This way your wrists are more relaxed as you play the lower notes. The Bird seems to be looking down the True Sound Hole and we can only imagine what it might be thinking? The tone on this flute is a very mellow and consistent. Easy to play and nice to look at too.
